The Supervisory Board and Management Board of DB have decided to put the major transport and logistics company up for sale in its entirety, rather than selling it in parts. This was announced by Germany’s Minister of Transport, Volker Wissing.
Months of research preceded the final decision, seeking the most suitable sales scenario.
In the end, the choice was made to sell the entire logistics group.
As reported by the German news agency DPA, DB’s leadership has determined that a financially attractive purchase price needs to be negotiated for the sale.
The next step will be the commencement of the bidding process, allowing interested parties to submit offers.
Subsequently, the Supervisory Board and DB will make decisions, with the assistance of commercial banks in the process.
It’s worth noting that specific timelines for the tender and the final selection of the buyer have not been disclosed.

DB has indicated that the sales procedure should not be expected in the short term.
One reason for this is that the acquisition of such a major player in the market, like DB Schenker, still requires approval from German and European competition authorities.
The proceeds from the sale of DB Schenker, which in the past ranged between 10 and 20 billion euros, will go entirely to DB.
The state-owned company DB is expected to use this to reduce its substantial debt burden.
