DB Presents 360° MSP Multisensor Platform for Railway Digitalization at InnoTrans 2024
27.09.2024
At InnoTrans 2024, German Railways presented the innovative 360° MSP multisensor platform, developed by the DB E.C.O. Group, part of Deutsche Bahn (DB), this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This system, installed on a motor car, is designed to create a three-dimensional Building Information Model (BIM) of railway infrastructure, significantly improving asset management and maintenance.

DB E.C.O. specializes in engineering, consulting, and operational services, offering comprehensive solutions in the infrastructure sector.
The 360° MSP multisensor platform combines advanced technologies such as satellite navigation, laser scanning, a panoramic camera, and ground-penetrating radar.
Satellite navigation and a laser scanner create a highly accurate 3D model of the surrounding surface, capturing even the smallest details of the terrain.
The panoramic camera captures visual data of the environment, while the ground-penetrating radar scans the structure of the soil beneath the tracks.
These tools work in synchronous mode, collecting data as the motor car travels at speeds of up to 80 km/h.
The platform can process up to 200 kilometers of railway track in one day, creating a detailed 3D model.
The collected data serves as a foundation for various DB divisions, which use it for the operation, maintenance, and modernization of railway infrastructure.
The implementation of this technology significantly enhances work efficiency, allowing for the rapid identification of problem areas and optimizing maintenance planning.
The 360° MSP multisensor platform represents a major step in the digitalization of Germany’s railway sector, providing precise and detailed mapping of assets.
