Czech Railways plans to buy four Taurus locomotives. Czech Railways is negotiating the purchase of four Siemens Taurus multi-system electric locomotives, which are currently being used by another rail carrier.

They are equipped for the needs of passenger transport, have the European safety device ETCS and are approved for operation in the Czech Republic and neighboring countries.
The intention to acquire these locomotives was approved by the Board of Directors and yesterday also by the Supervisory Board of the company, informs railway magazine Railway Supply referring to České dráhy.
Czech Railways has the first drawbridge
All four multi-system electric locomotives of the 1216 Taurus (ES64U4) series will be handed over to ČD approved for operation in the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany and Hungary.
In addition, two locomotives can be operated in Slovakia. The locomotives are equipped with ETCS and are ready for use in passenger transportation without the need for rework. Their maximum working speed is 230 km/h.
