CRRC Sifang will supply KCI-SFC120-V model electric trains for Jakarta
12.02.2024
Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, continues to modernize its public transportation system by implementing new technologies and expanding its rolling stock fleet, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Recently, the Indonesian operator KAI Commuter (KCI) signed a contract with the Chinese company CRRC Sifang to supply three electric trains of the KCI-SFC120-V model for Jakarta’s suburban routes.
The first batch of French rails is expected to arrive in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2024
The cost of this agreement amounted to 783 billion rupiah (approximately $50 million), and it is expected that the trains will be put into operation in 2025.
CRRC Sifang managed to outperform its competitors by offering the most advantageous combination of price and quality, as well as optimal delivery times.
Although the Chinese company was outbid by the Japanese company J-Trec in price, it agreed to meet the specific technical requirements of the customer by providing special air conditioning systems and seating configurations.
This contract is part of the broader cooperation between KCI and CRRC Sifang.
In November 2023, a memorandum of understanding was signed, envisioning further expansion of rolling stock deliveries for the Indonesian market.
Previously, CRRC successfully supplied high-speed trains for Indonesia’s first high-speed line, connecting Jakarta and Bandung.
As part of this project, 11 CR400AF Fuxing trains were ordered for a total of $370 million.
These steps demonstrate Indonesia’s commitment to modernizing its railway system and improving travel conditions for the residents of the capital and its suburbs.
The successful partnership between KCI and CRRC Sifang will help achieve this goal by providing reliable and modern trains for passengers.
