CRRC Begins Testing Metro Train for Bogotá Transit Line
16.05.2025
CRRC has started dynamic tests on its new metro train for Bogotá, simulating real operation before shipment to Colombia in September. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The six-car driverless train is undergoing a 2,500-kilometer run at CRRC’s test facility in Changchun, China, with full-load simulation. Static tests had previously confirmed structural safety and system readiness.

This 134-meter GoA4 train reaches up to 80 km/h and holds 1,800 passengers, including 252 seats. It’s part of a $990 million contract won by a Chinese consortium in 2019.
CRRC metro fleet to support Bogotá’s first subway
The deal includes 30 metro trains and equipment for Bogotá’s first subway line, set to launch in 2028. Authorities aim to reduce congestion and modernize public mobility.
Planning is underway for a second metro line, with 25 similar trains expected in the next phase. This expansion strengthens Bogotá’s long-term infrastructure strategy.
CRRC expands transit role with RegioTram fleet
In addition to the metro, CRRC will deliver 18 tram-trains for Bogotá’s RegioTram commuter line by 2027. A prototype rolled out in 2022 demonstrates progress on the regional link.
Both projects show Colombia’s shift toward efficient, low-emission transit systems. CRRC’s involvement reflects growing trust in Chinese railway innovation across Latin America.
