Centralny Port Komunikacyjny plans to introduce high-speed InterCity trains for 300 km/h speed. They will connect the new airport with major cities like Warsaw and Lodz.

Also, the company will buy Aero Express trains for the Warsaw – Lodz – airport route. These trains will provide 200 km/h transport to the terminals.

For interregional lines, it will select InterRegio trains with a top speed of 200 km/h. Thus, Poland will expand transport links between regions and the airport.

CPK Funds the Project

In February, EY secured a contract to develop the rolling stock procurement plan. Because the company will finance the project and supply trains to operators.

The first batch of trains, it will procure by 2032 for the Warsaw – Lodz HSR line. This route will link the capital and regions with the new airport.

The project costs estimate at $2.1 billion, with $0.4 billion funded through bonds. And the remaining amount will come from loans and private investments by 2032.

Poland will start rolling stock procurement in 2025 to speed up the project. But Pesa already partners with Spain’s Talgo for train production.

Pesa and Talgo signed a memorandum to produce 100-200 trains for 250 km/h speed. However, the Talgo deal fell through due to Spain’s stance.

Polish fund PFR aimed to buy Talgo but withdrew from the bidding process. Because Spain’s government opposed the sale to foreign investors.

The new airport and HSR network will become a key part of Poland’s transport system. And the company actively works on launching the project by 2032.
