New Alstom Project: Service Hub in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda
The new service facility is being built on a 12-hectare site next to Alstom’s existing plant. This plant already produces modern train models, including those for the airport line.
Alstom will provide maintenance services for 15 years. The depot will include two maintenance tracks, auxiliary workshops, office and staff areas, storage facilities, and a wheel-turning lathe.
The building will cover an area of 3,500 m². Spanish construction firm COMSA is handling the project. It will also lay tracks, install the overhead catenary system, and set up a washing unit and access tracks.
Alstom Ensures Infrastructure and Passenger Comfort
The project includes a connecting line to the national rail network managed by Adif. It also involves building a traction substation, access roads for vehicles, and perimeter fencing.
Each train will have a capacity of up to 656 passengers. Onboard amenities will include ramps for passengers with reduced mobility, luggage space, and displays showing travel information and flight updates.
The new route will stretch 22.7 kilometers and link nine stations between central Barcelona and both terminals of the airport. Trains will run every 15 minutes, and the journey will take approximately 20 minutes.
