Construction of a high-speed railway in Morocco

Morocco is embarking on a new chapter in the development of its railway infrastructure with the announcement of a tender for the construction of a high-speed railway (HSR) between Kenitra and Marrakech, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
According to Moroccan sources, the length of the new line will be 375 km, with a maximum speed of 350 km/h.Seven sections, ranging from 36 to 64 km, will be covered by the construction.

The project plans to route through key cities of the country, including Rabat, Sale, and Casablanca.
It also includes the construction of a technical maintenance center in Marrakech and a depot in Kenitra, as well as six connections to the existing railway network.
This project is part of Morocco’s ambitious national plan to develop its railway network, totaling $37 billion.
By 2040, the plan aims to connect 43 cities of the country by rail, creating up to 300,000 jobs and providing rail access to 87% of the population, compared to the current figure of just over 50%.
