Colorado Passenger Rail Project Gains Momentum
The agreement authorizes the development of a starter service that connects Denver through Boulder to Fort Collins with eight stops. This initial phase will prove the concept and attract investment.
Leaders see the starter route as the foundation for a larger 180-mile corridor extending south to Pueblo and potentially north to Wyoming. Future expansion could also reach New Mexico, creating a stronger regional network.
Colorado Eyes Full Front Range Connectivity
Planners expect to finalize the starter service plan by year-end. Once complete, it will support funding requests and design work, moving Colorado closer to modern, sustainable transportation.
Advocates highlight benefits such as reducing highway congestion and supporting economic growth in the rapidly expanding Front Range region. The project represents a long-term solution for increasing mobility needs.
By advancing this initiative, Colorado demonstrates its commitment to rail as a reliable and eco-friendly alternative to car travel. State leaders believe this project will transform regional connectivity and enhance quality of life.
