Chernivtsi and Suceava could be connected by European rail gauge
19.03.2024
A European rail gauge is planned to be laid between Chernivtsi and Suceava, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This was announced by Ruslan Zaparanyuk, the head of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration, on his Facebook page.

The issue was raised during the presentation of the completion of the reconstruction on both sides of the Porubne-Siret border crossing point.
Suceava is a transportation hub in Romania, located approximately the same distance from the border as Chernivtsi on the other side.
Currently, there is no railway connection between them.
“Another strategic project for us is the development of the railway – the continuation of the European standard gauge, which enters the region. This will connect Chernivtsi and Suceava with another mode of transportation and will open up enormous opportunities for mutual development,” emphasized Ruslan Zaparanyuk.
As reported earlier, construction of the European rail gauge will begin in Lviv this year.
