Alstom has inaugurated a center for manufacturing and servicing rolling stock bogies in Kazakhstan, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.

This new facility, spanning 8,000 square meters and employing over 100 people, has been launched in Astana.

It is projected that the center will produce 200 bogies annually and conduct major overhauls on 300 bogies. The total investment in the project exceeded €15 million.

The center possesses expertise in performing extensive repairs on bogie components, including wheelsets and dampers. It also conducts non-destructive testing and assessments of their integral parts and components.

Furthermore, it is authorized to service components from other manufacturers.

Currently, Alstom holds a long-term contract with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) for the supply and maintenance of 250 KZ8A freight electric locomotives and 119 KZ4AT passenger units, assembled at the EKZ plant.

In addition, Alstom operates a facility in the country dedicated to the production of turnouts and four service depots. The company is considering the possibility of investing up to €100 million to expand its repair capabilities.
