Three out of 23 sets of Caltrain electric trains have undergone 1,000 miles of testing along the Caltrain corridor, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The California railway service announced trials for three of its 23 new electric trains, each covering 1,000 miles during testing.

The Caltrain railway corridor spans 48 miles between San Francisco 4th and King station and San Jose Diridon station.

Stadler electric trains are scheduled to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2024, and Caltrain emphasizes that its new fleet ‘must meet all safety and quality standards before launch.’

The railway service currently has six train sets, with the remaining to be delivered from Stadler’s U.S. production facility in Utah over the next year.

The planned electrification initiative aims to enhance daily rail services during peak hours.
