California High-Speed Rail Achieves Key Milestone in 2025
24.08.2025
California High-Speed Rail reached another milestone in 2025, completing the Avenue 88 Grade Separation to enhance safety, connectivity, and economic opportunities for Central Valley communities. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

California High-Speed Rail Expands Infrastructure
California High-Speed Rail advanced construction efforts with the completion of the Avenue 88 Grade Separation in Tulare County. The 485-foot overpass, spanning State Route 43, the BNSF railway, and the future high-speed rail line, improves local connectivity.

Crews installed 20 pre-cast concrete girders produced in Hanford, California, using over 528,000 pounds of steel and 2,100 cubic yards of concrete. The project benefits farmers, emergency responders, and commuters who depend on safe and efficient transportation routes.
California High-Speed Rail Drives Regional Growth
Earlier this summer, crews delivered the Tulare Street Grade Separation in downtown Fresno. This project reconnected the Chinatown district with the city center by lowering Tulare Street under the Union Pacific tracks and the high-speed rail alignment.
The Fresno structure includes two traffic lanes, pedestrian access, and cycling paths, promoting safer, more inclusive mobility. Nearby, new infrastructure along Avenue 56, Belmont, and Central avenues further enhances regional accessibility and safety.
Regional Director Garth Fernandez emphasized the importance of these projects, noting their role in strengthening connections between rural and urban communities. He added that improved transportation links support faster emergency response and safer travel for everyday users.
Construction along the 171-mile corridor between Merced and Bakersfield remains active. Nearly 70 miles of guideway and 56 structures are complete, while 29 additional sites are under construction. Statewide, environmental clearance now covers 463 of the 494 miles planned to connect San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Anaheim.
Since groundbreaking, the project has created more than 15,500 jobs, with around 1,700 workers active daily on construction sites. This surge in employment fuels economic development throughout the Central Valley while accelerating progress on this transformative transportation system.
