CAF will supply a new tram fleet for Rome

The public transport operator ATAC SpA has signed a framework contract with CAF for the delivery of a new tram fleet in Rome, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The contract, valued at over 130 million euros, stipulates that CAF will design and manufacture 40 trams for the capital, providing spare parts and technical maintenance for the fleet for 5 years after execution.

The contract also includes an option to increase the number of units to 121.
The new trams, designed by CAF under the name Urbos, consist of 5 modules and feature the OESS (Onboard Energy Storage Systems) for seamless operation on non-contact track sections throughout Rome.
ATAC SpA aims to replace the current outdated fleet operating on six existing city lines and facilitate infrastructure for future lines funded through European financing.
CAF Group has been in partnership with Roma Capitale for over 20 years.
