Authorities expect to complete all administrative processes by 2025. An international tender for train procurement is planned for 2026, with deliveries expected by 2029.

How Brasilia is modernizing the metro and reducing intervals?

Initially, Metro-DF planned to purchase 15 trains, but authorities increased the order to 33. This decision is tied to line extensions and the need to reduce train intervals.

Currently, the metro relies on Series 1000 trains produced in the late 1990s. Additionally, newer Alstom Metropolis trains, delivered in the 2010s, also operate on the network.

New trains will enhance passenger comfort, replace outdated fleets, and improve overall network reliability. Modern technology will reduce energy consumption and lower operating costs.

By 2029, Brasilia plans to complete the extensions of the Orange and Green metro lines. Modern trains will ensure stable operation and convenient service on the upgraded routes.

When Brasilia will complete metro train procurement?

Financing for train procurement and modernization remains a top priority for Metro-DF. The company is exploring flexible solutions, including private investments and support from international financial institutions.

Authorities believe that upgrading the fleet will improve transportation and ease road congestion. Comfortable and modern metro services will become an attractive alternative to personal vehicles.

Experts say that large-scale metro modernization will enhance transport quality and environmental safety. Brasilia is creating conditions for safe and comfortable journeys across the entire metro network.
