A protest action was held against the acceptance of oil tankers under the Russian flag in the port of Antwerp (Belgium) at the end of last week.

Oil tankers

It is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply.

In the port of Antwerp, protesters from the Belgian-registered Ukrainian defense organization Promote Ukraine, along with the environmental charity Rise for Climate, staged a sanctioned protest against Russian oil and shipping.

“The activists called for a complete oil embargo against Russia, as well as an end to the use of European ports by Russian ships,” the publication says.

The protesters held flags and banners in front of ships moored in the harbour. According to the organizers of the protest, European sanctions on shipping should also apply to fuel tankers.

“Today, most Russian ships cannot enter Belgian ports, but there are exceptions for agricultural ships and oil tankers. We don’t have time for half measures, no exceptions should be made, these are just loopholes for Russia to continue financing the war,” the activists stressed.

The public organization Promote Ukraine has resorted to active protests since the beginning of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The activists called for the termination of Belgian trade with Russian diamonds, demanded that NATO close the Ukrainian skies from the planes of Russian invaders.

They also asked for a complete ban on the import of Russian gas and oil, boycotted the filling stations of the Russian company Lukoil.

As previously reported, in Finland, activists blocked the train with coal from the Russian Federation.
