BART ridership showed remarkable improvement in June 2025 as the network posted a 13.4% annual gain. Stronger weekend travel fueled this recovery, supported by ongoing system enhancements.

Saturday trips rose sharply, climbing 15.2% from May and exceeding June 2024 by 24.6%. Large gatherings, including “No Kings Day” on June 14 and the San Francisco Pride Parade on June 29, pushed weekend usage to near record highs.

BART Expands Safe and Clean Plan for Riders
To strengthen passenger confidence, BART advanced its Safe and Clean Plan. The strategy delivers deeper cleaning cycles, more visible BART Police patrols, and an improved customer environment across trains and stations.
These actions aim to resolve hygiene and security concerns while enhancing rider comfort. Officials stress that safety measures remain central to rebuilding trust and restoring pre-pandemic travel levels.
BART Introduces Modern Upgrades and Partnerships
Alongside cleaning efforts, BART continues deploying its Fleet of the Future trains for greater reliability and comfort. Installation of Next Generation Fare Gates is underway to cut fare evasion and streamline access.
To attract leisure travelers, BART is forming partnerships with sports teams, cultural groups, and event organizers. These collaborations aim to embed the transit system into the Bay Area’s social and economic fabric.
