The German company Vollert supplied the port with the shunting machine Tandem DER 150, which automated the process of transporting iron sulfate over a 500-meter section.

This section connects the loading and unloading complex with the main railway line, significantly simplifying and accelerating logistics operations.

The Tandem DER 150 tractor robot is controlled via radio signal, with repeaters installed along the entire section to ensure stable signal transmission.

This allows the operator to control the process remotely, minimizing human error and enhancing workplace safety.

One of the key features of the Tandem DER 150 is its diesel engine, which complies with strict Stage V environmental standards.

In long-term operation mode, the machine demonstrates a tractive force of 150 kN. Its ability to move trains weighing up to 2000 tons at a speed of 1.8 km/h makes it an ideal solution for the Port of Pori.

The robot’s technical specifications include a 22 kW hydraulic unit used to open and close wagon covers during loading and unloading operations.

This significantly reduces cargo handling time.

Additionally, the slip control system ensures reliable traction of the drive axles, preventing slippage and increasing the tractor’s efficiency.

These innovations not only streamline processes but also improve environmental conditions by using cleaner technologies.

Similar solutions are already being applied in other countries.

For example, in 2023, five two-section Vollert tractor robots started operating at the Bogatyr coal mine in Kazakhstan.

This demonstrates the successful international spread of transportation automation technology.

Automation in the Port of Pori using the Vollert tractor robot is an important step towards modernizing port infrastructure.

It not only accelerates logistics operations but also contributes to the safety and environmental friendliness of transportation processes.
