As a result of the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, several million tons of grains and oil crops may be lost

The submerged lands require a complete agroecological assessment after the water recedes, and special soil restoration methods may be needed, according to the Railway Supply journal citing Rail.insider.
The inability to irrigate poses a serious threat to the cultivation of millions of tons of grains and oil crops, as well as having a negative impact on international food security.
This incident has had serious consequences for the region. For example, the Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant had to reduce production due to the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, leading to job cuts and a decrease in ferroalloy production.

Additionally, “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” had to suspend steel smelting and rolled steel production, which negatively affects the metallurgical sector.
Assessing the damages to the left bank of Kherson Oblast is challenging, but it is known that a significant amount of grain crops was stored there.
Moreover, the crop losses on the right bank exceed 100,000 tons. Therefore, restoring the cultivation of these crops will require time and effort.
It is necessary to make every effort to restore the damaged lands and water supply in this area.
This will not only ensure food security in Ukraine but also help reduce losses at the international level, as Ukraine is a major producer of grain crops.
