Another partisan attack led to the burning of a Russian train
The war on the railroad escalates. Another successful operation took place in Russia, where a freight train with fuel was set on fire, heading towards the Ukrainian front. The attack was launched by the Freedom of Russia Legion, a military group made up of former Russian military personnel. Railway Supply magazine writes about this with reference to RailFreight.
Arson of fuel tanks occurred in Yekaterinburg, but the exact location is unknown. According to the Volunteer Legion, the action was held at 15:00 local time on the night of November 4-5. The incident comes just days after another group of partisans, “Stop the Wagons” group, damaged a railroad section near Novozybkov, near Russia’s border with Belarus and Ukraine, using explosive devices.
The Freedom of Russia Legion was formed in March 2022, just a few weeks after the start of the war in Ukraine. Its members are mostly former Russian military who have teamed up with other Russian and Belarusian volunteers and joined Ukrainian forces.
