Work to implement the new route in the Eurotunnel began three years ago. The expected total investment for the preparations is approximately £1 billion.

Detailed negotiations on infrastructure access are ongoing.

One potential issue could be the capacity of the terminal stations, which may have been further restricted by Brexit (the UK’s exit from the European Union and the Schengen Zone required customs and passport checks before boarding the train).

The main investor is the shareholders of the transportation group Mobico. Capital support has also come from French and British companies in the transportation and financial industries, as well as undisclosed global investment funds.

According to Evolyn itself, changes to its ownership structure may be forthcoming.
