Alstom confirmed its second option with Kawasaki to supply propulsion systems for the next batch of R211 cars. This agreement will equip more than 80% of New York City Transit’s fleet with advanced technology, improving reliability and efficiency for millions of commuters.

Michael Keroullé, President of Alstom Americas, emphasized that these solutions will keep passengers moving safely. He noted that this expansion aligns with Alstom’s commitment to deliver cutting-edge systems supporting sustainable and efficient urban transit.

Alstom Manufacturing Hub in Hornell, NY

The propulsion systems will be manufactured at Alstom’s Hornell facility, the largest passenger rail site in the U.S. The plant builds traction motors, cases, and high-speed circuit breakers, and includes a combined testing laboratory for rigorous quality checks and streamlined production.

Alstom offers one of the industry’s most comprehensive portfolios, including propulsion, auxiliary converters, bogies, braking technologies, green traction solutions, and advanced control systems.
