The French company Alstom has signed a major contract with German passenger transport operators go.Rheinland and Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) to supply and maintain 90 new Adessia Stream trains, with a total value of €4 billion, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This contract includes the technical maintenance of the rolling stock for 34 years, ensuring long-term operation and support.

The new trains will be delivered in two configurations: 9 and 11 cars. The nine-car train, 150 meters in length, will be able to carry approximately 1,150 passengers, while the eleven-car train, around 170 meters long, is designed to accommodate 1,340 passengers.

Both types of trains will feature modern amenities, including Wi-Fi, additional power outlets for passengers, and an air conditioning system with environmentally friendly refrigerants.

For passenger convenience, the carriages will have multifunctional areas for strollers and bicycles, zones for passengers with reduced mobility, and toilets located in the end cars.

The signing of this agreement with go.Rheinland and VRR is part of Alstom’s large portfolio of contracts. Previously, the company secured a €2.8 billion deal to supply metro trains and signaling equipment for Hamburg.

Additionally, a €1 billion contract was signed to provide an upgraded signaling system for the suburban railway in Perth, Western Australia.
