Alstom offers the lowest price in the competition to supply 100 aluminum-bodied electric trains in India

It is expected that Alstom will begin manufacturing the trains at the Indian Railways (IR) facilities in Sonipat, Haryana
The manufacturer has proposed a price of 1.5 billion rupees ($18.2 million) per train, while the consortium of Stadler and local company Medha Servo Drives (MSD) estimated their production cost at 1.7 billion rupees ($20.4 million), according to the railway portal Railway Supply, citing Alstom.
The tender was announced by Indian Railways (IR) in July of last year. The deliveries include 16-car trains of the third-generation Vande Bharat model, along with a 35-year maintenance contract.

These trains are expected to have a maximum speed of 200 km/h.
It is anticipated that Alstom will commence train production at the IR facilities in Sonipat, Haryana. Considering the maintenance aspect, the order is estimated to be worth $4.4 billion, excluding taxes.
In the previous competition for the supply of 200 Vande Bharat trains, the victory went to the consortia of TMH and Indian RVNL, as well as Titagarh Wagons and BHEL. Currently, the tender for the fourth-generation Vande Bharat trains consisting of 200 units is ongoing.
