The Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) plans to introduce 19 more new trains of this type and upgrade 13 existing Innovia APM trains.
The first two trains arrived in Singapore in 2022 and underwent rigorous testing for two years.
The trains have a maximum speed of 80 km/h and are controlled by the advanced Cityflo 650 CBTC (Communications Based Train Control) signaling and control system.
The trains also feature an integrated condition monitoring system to prevent sudden breakdowns, dimmable windows, and a modern climate control system.
The Innovia APM system has been in operation since 1963 and has been used in various modifications.
These trains operate in airports in Germany, Italy, the USA, Spain, Malaysia, and many other countries.
In April 2024, Alstom signed a contract to upgrade ten and supply four more Innovia APM trains with King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The new trains not only enhance passenger comfort but also demonstrate high reliability and operational safety.
The condition monitoring system allows for a prompt response to any equipment deviations, significantly reducing the likelihood of sudden failures and accidents.
Innovative technologies used in these trains include dimmable windows that adjust light levels based on external conditions and an advanced climate control system that maintains a comfortable temperature inside the train regardless of weather conditions.
With the introduction of these autonomous trains, Singapore is making a significant step forward in the development of public transport.
The implementation of modern technologies and traffic management systems significantly improves the quality of transportation and enhances its safety.
The successful testing and commissioning of the new Alstom Innovia APM 300R trains confirm Singapore’s readiness to adopt advanced transportation solutions.
