Tanzania Railways Corp has received 30 double-decker passenger coaches

Thanks to lithium-ion batteries installed on the roof, the train can travel up to 120 km without recharging. It is expected to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h in battery mode and features 150 seating places in a three-car configuration.

The production of these trains takes place at Alstom’s German plants in Salzgitter and Mannheim, as well as one French plant in Tarbes.

The contract for the delivery of these 11 trains, valued at approximately €100 million, was signed in February 2020.
