Renfe has ordered a total of 201 Coradia trains. The contract for 152 trains was signed in 2021, with an additional order of 49 units in 2022, demonstrating the carrier’s confidence in this model.

As part of fulfilling the order, Alstom has increased the workforce at its Catalonia plant to 1,100 employees and is actively collaborating with local manufacturers.

Originally slated for delivery by mid-2024, unforeseen increases in raw material and electricity prices, along with the semiconductor crisis in the global market, have pushed the timeline to early 2025.

Upon completion of testing and certification, Alstom plans to deliver three to four trains per month to Renfe.

The Coradia train for Renfe consists of a six-car formation, including four single-deck and two double-deck cars, with a total passenger capacity of over 900 individuals.

The maximum speed of the train is 160 km/h, and each train will be equipped with real-time technical condition monitoring technology.
