Alstom’s Role in Manila’s Metro Transformation

On November 16, 2024, Alstom introduced its integrated metro system in Manila. The project, part of the Manila Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension, extends the line by 6.2 kilometers and adds five new stations, including ASEANA and PITX. It significantly reduces travel time from Baclaran to Bacoor, slashing the journey from 70 minutes to 25 minutes.

As a global leader in mobility solutions, Alstom spearheaded the design, integration, and commissioning phases. Their advanced signaling systems, power solutions, and trackwork ensure seamless operation and enhanced passenger safety. The extension accommodates up to 400,000 passengers daily, making it a pivotal infrastructure upgrade for the Philippines.

Sustainability at the Core of Alstom’s Vision

Alstom emphasizes sustainability by offering a greener transit alternative, reducing road congestion and air pollution. “This project represents a commitment to sustainable and efficient urban transport,” said Toby Tiberghien, Alstom’s East Asia Managing Director.

In 2022, Alstom upgraded the 20-kilometer LRT-1 line with its Atlas 100 solution, enhancing both safety and efficiency. The new extension continues this trend, delivering modern mobility solutions that align with the Philippines’ development goals.

Alstom’s innovation and reliability cement its position as a key player in the global rail sector. By enhancing connectivity and promoting eco-friendly transport, the company supports Manila’s growth while addressing environmental challenges.
