Alstom: Delivery of 70 Traxx Universal Locomotives
20.06.2024
The French company Alstom has signed an agreement with the Italian carrier Polo Logistica FS for the delivery of 70 Traxx Universal locomotives, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The total contract value amounts to €323 million, with an option for an additional 30 units and maintenance services for 12 years.
The rolling stock will be manufactured at Alstom’s plant in Vado Ligure, Italy, with the first deliveries scheduled for 2025.
Traxx Universal locomotives feature a high power output of 6.4 MW and a top speed of up to 200 km/h.
A notable feature of some of these locomotives is the “last mile” technology, which allows autonomous movement on non-electrified sections of track.
The Traxx Universal model is part of the Alstom Traxx family of locomotives, which are widely used worldwide.
As of 2024, more than 2,700 locomotives of this line are in operation, including 325 in Italy.
This contract not only strengthens Alstom’s position in the rail transport market but also contributes to the modernization and increased efficiency of freight transport in Europe through the application of advanced technologies and the high performance of the new locomotives.
