This initiative forms part of a $78 million national plan to modernize all 19 centers across Spain. Adif aims to improve traffic flow and safety while building a more resilient network. So far, the system is active in Barcelona, León, and El Berrón, with ongoing work in Madrid and Valencia.
Adif Aligns Upgrades with Sustainability Goals
The CTC acts as the technological core, remotely managing interlockings and signals for safe routing. These upgrades support Sustainable Development Goal 9 by creating efficient, high-quality infrastructure that enhances safety and availability.
In addition to technology, Adif is refurbishing buildings housing control centers. Renovations are complete in León and Sevilla, while construction continues in Ourense and Córdoba. Together, these efforts will create a safer, more efficient, and sustainable rail system for Spain.
