AD Ports Group acquires a majority stake in Tbilisi Dry Port
01.04.2024
The port and logistics operator, AD Ports Group from Abu Dhabi, UAE, continues to strengthen its position on the global stage, announcing an agreement with Inveco to acquire 60% of the shares of Tbilisi Dry Port, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This move signifies the company’s strategic interest in expanding its capabilities in the region and participating in the development of key transportation routes.
Tbilisi Dry Port, located in Georgia between the Black and Caspian Seas, promises to become not only an important logistics hub in the region but also a crucial link in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
This corridor, connecting production centers in Asia with markets in Europe, represents a strategically important direction for intercontinental trade development.
One of the project’s key ideas is to establish direct railway connections between Turkey and the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi, followed by further advancement to ports in Bulgaria and Romania.
This opens up new opportunities for exporters and importers, accelerating deliveries and reducing logistics costs.
Equally important is the eastern direction of the project, including routes to Caspian ports via Azerbaijan.
This further strengthens the port’s role in the global logistics network and provides more flexible freight delivery options.
The planned phased development of land plots for the port will allow for effective scaling of the project and increasing its processing volumes.
Upon completion of all stages, its service capacity will reach impressive levels, making it one of the leading logistics centers in the region.
The appointment of Noatum Logistics, a subsidiary of AD Ports Group, to manage and operate the port, ensures professional and efficient management of all aspects of its operation.
The Trans-Caspian corridor is forecasted to become one of the most promising trade routes between Asia and Europe by 2040.
Moreover, the container flow along this route could reach significant volumes, confirming the strategic importance of investing in port infrastructure development in the region.
The agreement to acquire shares in Tbilisi Dry Port reflects not only AD Ports Group’s desire to expand its business but also confirms the importance of the region for global trade and logistics.
