Galati, located in southeastern Romania, anticipates the modernization of its public transportation, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Acquisition of new model trams

The city’s municipality has signed a contract to procure 10 new Authentic model trams from the local manufacturer Astra Vagoane Calatori.

The authorities of Uzbekistan intend to create a unified transport and logistics operator

The total transaction amount is 16 million euros, funded through Romania’s national recovery and sustainability plan.

The 18-meter-long Authentic trams, with a speed of up to 70 km/h, will contribute to enhancing urban mobility, accommodating up to 100 passengers.

Founded in 1998, Astra Vagoane Calatori is a key supplier of passenger wagons in the country, offering a range of services, including repair, technical maintenance, and transportation fleet modernization.

This purchase is part of the transportation infrastructure upgrade, following the successful delivery of 62 trams in 2023.

Astra Vagoane Calatori will continue its role in urban transport modernization, planning to deliver an additional 30 trams to Bucharest and 7 to Arad in 2024.
