A new freight railway route connecting Shijiazhuang, the administrative center of Hebei Province in China, to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, has been opened, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

A railway route has been launched between Shijiazhuang and Belgrade

The first train departed from Shijiazhuang on March 21, 2024, passing through the border station of Alashankou in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China.

The establishment of the logistics center Horonda Platform

The route covers a distance of about 10,200 kilometers, with a travel time of around 20 days.

This route marks the first freight train connecting the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region with Serbia under the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative.

The train carries containers with various goods, including auto parts and mechanical equipment, totaling about 20 million yuan (approximately $2.82 million USD).

Parties expect that the new route will strengthen economic ties between China and countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
