The plant will produce both diesel and electric locomotives.
Special attention will be given to the implementation of advanced technologies. The General Director of LLP “Kamkor Lokomotiv,” Altai Jumataev, emphasized that the new facility will include assembly for locomotives operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG).
This decision is driven by the desire to reduce environmental impact and enhance the efficiency of rail transport in Kazakhstan.
This year, the project’s feasibility study is being developed.
A land plot for construction has already been selected, marking an important step towards the project’s implementation.
Construction is expected to commence in 2025, with the first locomotive expected to roll off the assembly line by the end of 2026, marking the successful completion of one of the region’s largest infrastructure projects.
The new plant will not only strengthen the country’s manufacturing capabilities but also serve as a significant source of employment. During the construction and operational phases, approximately 800 people are expected to be employed.
Thus, the project will contribute to the development of the local economy and increase employment levels in the region.
