The most popular route was London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly, with 18,000 tickets sold. London King’s Cross to York, Canterbury West to London Bridge, and Cambridge to London Bridge also saw high demand.
More than 12,000 tickets were sold for London King’s Cross to York. Around 11,000 tickets were bought for Canterbury West to London Bridge, with a similar number for Cambridge to London Bridge.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander emphasized the sale’s impact on affordability and rail travel growth. “Millions of pounds were saved by passengers, putting money back in people’s pockets,” she stated.

Season tickets, off-peak long-distance returns, and flexible city travel fares will see limited price hikes. However, unregulated fares remain subject to operator decisions, likely rising at similar rates.
In Scotland, all ScotRail fares will increase by 3.8% starting April 1. The Welsh Government has yet to announce any fare adjustments for its rail services.
