117 electric trains for Portugal

Alstom has won an international tender to supply 117 electric trains for Portugal, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Comboios de Portugal selected a consortium, including Alstom Transporte, Alstom Ferroviária Portugal, and Domingos da Silva Teixeira.

Under this agreement, 62 trains will serve suburban routes, and 55 will be designated for regional transport.
Approved in 2021 with an investment of €819 million, the tender involved six contenders, such as Alstom, CAF, Talgo, Siemens Mobility, CRRC Tangshan, Hitachi Rail, and Stadler Rail Valencia.
This event underscores the significance of upgrading passenger transport in Portugal and Alstom’s role in this strategic development.
