100 Million Euros Allocated for Railway Freight Transport Development

The government of Ukraine has allocated 100 million euros for the development of railway freight transport, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
This was announced by a government representative in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Taras Melnychuk, on Telegram.
Trams Capable of Handling Slopes up to 67‰
These funds are directed from the remaining balance of the special fund of the state budget, received in 2022 from the European Investment Bank as part of the investment project “Modernization of the Ukrainian Railway (modernization of infrastructure of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia).”
These funds have been reallocated to a new budget program.
The main goal of this program is the development and improvement of railway infrastructure, including design, restoration, construction, modernization, equipment, construction object repairs, engineering and transport railway infrastructure, as well as the acquisition of assets for the development of railway freight transport.
The total amount of allocated funds is 100 million euros and will be credited to the current account in foreign currency of the joint-stock company “Ukrainian Railways.”
As previously reported, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure for using these funds to purchase rails for Ukrzaliznytsia.
