Technology Enhancements at Rail Stations
As part of the plan, 3D maps are being installed at 10 more rail stations, including Redhill, Haywards Heath, Three Bridges, and Eastbourne. These maps help passengers with disabilities better navigate station layouts by highlighting lifts, gates, and stairways.
Govia Thameslink has also added interactive screens at five stations, such as Brighton and Gatwick Airport. These displays feature British Sign Language to support hearing-impaired travelers and display live departure information.
Structural and Accessibility Improvements for Rail Stations
Additional enhancements include secure new bike parking at Chichester and preparations for an extra ticket gate line at Worthing station. These upgrades aim to streamline passenger movement and promote sustainable transport.
At Lewes, two heritage-style shelters have been built to offer both comfort and character. These structural additions reflect GTR’s effort to preserve local identity while enhancing station functionality.
Louis Rambaud, GTR’s Chief Customer Officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating clean, comfortable, and safe environments that reflect passenger needs and community values.
By combining digital tools with physical upgrades, Govia Thameslink continues to improve rail stations across the region, helping redefine everyday journeys for thousands of passengers.
