East Midlands Railway (EMR) has unveiled the first images of the interiors of its new Aurora train fleet, set to redefine passenger experiences on the railway, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
These trains, built by Hitachi, are equipped with cutting-edge technology, offering passengers enhanced comfort during their journeys.

The new bi-mode train fleet, with a total investment of £400 million, will begin service on the Midland Main Line in 2025-2026.
One of the key features distinguishing the Aurora trains from their predecessors is the upgraded interior design, developed in collaboration with the Derby-based design firm DG DESIGN.
The trains will feature FISA Lean seats, specifically adapted for increased comfort. Enhanced cushions, headrests, and armrests will provide improved support throughout the journey.
The seat upholstery is made from durable and high-quality materials, including wool and leather, ensuring longevity and aesthetic appeal.
Passengers will enjoy their journey in modern conditions, with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and access to power outlets and USB ports at every seat.
Additionally, each train will be equipped with passenger information screens, significantly simplifying travel.
It is important to note that the new trains offer more seating and luggage storage compared to EMR’s current fleet.
Each carriage will have ample space for hand luggage under the seats and large overhead luggage compartments.
Special attention has been given to passengers with disabilities. The trains will feature designated spaces for wheelchairs and storage areas for bicycles, making travel more convenient for all passenger categories.
The new Aurora train fleet will be equipped with an advanced Wi-Fi system, utilizing multiple SIM cards to ensure the best signal throughout the journey.
Passengers who prefer to use their mobile devices will also appreciate the improved connectivity, thanks to special glass windows that allow mobile signals to pass through.
Rachel Turner, Head of New Trains at East Midlands Railway, expressed confidence that the new Aurora trains will fully meet the expectations of modern passengers.
She emphasized that the collaboration with Hitachi has resulted in a unique product that will ensure maximum comfort and safety during journeys.
Thus, EMR is making a decisive step towards improving passenger service quality, offering new, high-tech solutions that will make every journey on Aurora trains truly comfortable and enjoyable.
