08.07.2024
In early July 2024, Koleje Dolnośląskie completed the delivery of 25 new electric trains of the Elf 2 series, manufactured by PESA Bydgoszcz, marking a significant event for the Lower Silesian Voivodeship region in Poland, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These modern five-car trains, capable of reaching speeds up to 160 km/h, not only provide high speed but also significantly enhance passenger comfort and service levels.

Since the contract was signed in 2020 for five trains totaling 165 million złoty, Koleje Dolnośląskie has gradually expanded its fleet through additional orders, ultimately acquiring 20 additional Elf 2 electric trains for a total of 581 million złoty.
This deal is one of the largest in the company’s history, partially financed by a loan from PKO Bank Polski and European Union funds.
Currently, the Elf 2 fleet is the largest among electric trains in Poland, serving various routes in the region.
Each train is designed according to modern comfort and safety standards: equipped with air conditioning systems, providing free Wi-Fi access, and featuring special areas for bicycles, luggage, and wheelchairs. Thanks to these enhancements, journeys become more comfortable and accessible for all passengers.
The first Elf 2 electric trains entered service in August 2022 on the Wrocław Główny — Jelcz-Laskowice route, demonstrating not only technological progress but also the company’s commitment to improving the region’s transportation infrastructure.
These new trains not only contribute to reducing the ecological footprint but also enhance the quality of passenger service, making journeys more enjoyable and safe.
