Each train will offer seating for at least 300 passengers, along with 15 years of maintenance and staff training, ensuring a robust, sustainable transport solution for Bulgarian commuters.
This project is financed under the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021-2027, with trains set to arrive within two years. These electric trains are planned for high-traffic routes, including Ruse-Varna and Varna-Gorna Oryahovitsa-Mezdra, providing efficient and eco-friendly transit options.
Additionally, these trains may serve shorter distances such as Sofia-Dragoman, addressing the demand for improved connectivity in Bulgaria, said transport minister Krasimira Stoyanova.
In August, Bulgaria selected the Skoda consortium to deliver a fleet of 20 electric single-deck trains, with a total investment of 511.4 million levs.
This move underscores Bulgaria’s commitment to upgrading its public transportation infrastructure, driving both modernization and increased connectivity across the nation.
