Romania’s national railway operator, CFR Călători, has unveiled four Alstom-made electric trains. This marks a significant enhancement to its new timetable.

The updated schedule, effective December 15, will oversee 1,100 daily trains. This adjustment reflects efforts to optimize routes and align resources efficiently, according to company officials.
The modern InterRegio (IR) electric trains promise shorter journeys. Key departures include IR 16001 at 6:31 AM from Bucharest North to Brașov, arriving by 8:59 AM. Other services include IR 16002, 16003, and 16004, ensuring frequent connectivity.
Enhanced Travel Options with Electric Trains Connecting Bucharest to Brașov
CFR Călători emphasizes adapting routes based on demand. Modified paths now include the IR 72 Traianus train, which links Craiova to Budapest Keleti, and IR 73 for the reverse trip. These changes highlight improved international accessibility.
Additional routes include IR 1599, running Bucharest North to Drobeta Turnu Severin. Departing at 5:02 AM, it reaches its destination by 12:19 PM. Such measures aim to better serve commuters and leisure travelers.
During summer, coastal connections enhance access to Constanța and Mangalia. These Regio trains provide affordable travel options for seasonal trips.
InterCity services will also see upgrades. Trains feature first-class and second-class cars, catering facilities, and Wi-Fi. Speeds reach 160 km/h, with select routes achieving 200 km/h.
International travel offerings now include attractive rates to Moldova, Austria, Germany, and neighboring countries. The Interrail Pass further supports seamless European exploration.
CFR Călători launched its first Alstom Coradia Stream train on November 20. The move underscores the operator’s commitment to modern, efficient travel experiences.
