El Mirage Police said the derailment happened at the BNSF Railyard near Grand Avenue and Thompson Ranch Road around 2:30 p.m., according to spokesperson Ian Takashige, as noted by the El Mirage Police Department.

Grand Avenue closure and reopening update from ADOT

The temporary Grand Avenue closure eased later in the afternoon. ADOT said traffic on Grand Avenue reopened around 5 p.m. No other information has been released.
