The railway station collapsed unexpectedly, and rescue operations were expected to be extremely challenging, with officials anticipating they would continue for several hours. “We have mobilized around 80 rescuers, sourced from various towns, using heavy machinery,” said Dacic, highlighting the extensive efforts underway.

Dacic confirmed that two individuals remained trapped under the debris but were still alive, according to information from rescuers. Local media reported that dozens of other people may have sustained injuries during the incident. The rescue team is cautiously proceeding to ensure the safety of those still trapped, while medical personnel stand by to provide immediate assistance.

Meanwhile, the office of the Novi Sad mayor acknowledged the accident, although it refrained from providing specific numbers on the injured.
