Located in Borg el-Arab, the complex will house two advanced factories for production. One factory will produce electric systems, control circuits, and signals for railway networks.

The second facility will manufacture mobile units for metro lines, trams, and express trains. Together, these factories enhance Egypt’s transportation infrastructure and regional competitiveness significantly.

El-Wazir announced partnerships with global railway companies to drive this ambitious initiative forward. For instance, Egypt collaborates with France’s Alstom to develop the Borg el-Arab site.

Additionally, Spain’s Colway will establish a factory in Beni Suef for train components. This collaboration ensures high-quality production and meets international standards consistently.

South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem also joins Egypt to produce air-conditioned metro carriages locally. Meanwhile, Austria’s Voestalpine Group will build a railway switch factory in Abbassia.

These international partnerships showcase Egypt’s commitment to advancing its industrial and transport sectors. Moreover, they attract investment and foster technological innovation across the country rapidly.

El-Wazir revealed that six Egyptian-owned factories will produce railway flanges for high-speed trains. Four of these will focus on flanges, supporting the nation’s electric train network.

This initiative not only creates thousands of job opportunities but also boosts export potential. Thus, Egypt positions itself as a key player in the regional industrial landscape.
