A key topic of discussion was the execution of the largest deal in the history of Egyptian Railways — the supply of 1,350 new passenger cars by the Hungarian company Ganz Mavag. A total of 977 cars have already been delivered, including various classes with dynamic ventilation and air conditioning.
El-Wazir noted that the project symbolizes a significant milestone in the relations between the two countries and serves as an example of successful cooperation.
Egypt aims to attract Hungarian investments into new sectors to meet local needs and strengthen its export position.
The Hungarian side, in turn, expressed interest in localizing the production of railway vehicles in Egypt, which will help develop the industry at the regional level.
The localization of railway transport production is an important part of Egypt’s strategy to become a key center for the production of railway cars for the Middle East and Africa.
In addition, projects are being discussed for the establishment of local production of solar panels, wind turbines, fiber-optic cables, and other high-tech products.
The industrial partnership also includes the production of pharmaceuticals, glass, fertilizers, and automotive components.
Special attention is given to the prospects for the development of green hydrogen, considered a promising area for European investment.
Hungary can benefit from Egypt’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and incentives for attracting investors.
Hungarian representatives expressed their willingness to discuss the possibility of visiting Egypt to explore existing opportunities and visit operational production facilities.
