DSB purchases Coradia Stream electric trains to promote sustainable mobility

In May 2023, Alstom and DSB unveiled a full-scale mockup of the Coradia Stream train. Just a year later, in 2024, the design received the prestigious Red Dot Award. The first trains are expected to arrive in Denmark in 2025, with full commercial service starting in 2027.

Each trainset consists of five cars, reaches speeds of up to 200 km/h, and offers 300 passenger seats. The design includes dedicated spaces for bicycles, strollers, and wheelchairs, ensuring inclusivity and comfort for all passengers.

The large-scale fleet upgrade aligns with Denmark’s national railway electrification strategy. By 2030, DSB plans to completely phase out diesel-powered trains. This shift will significantly reduce carbon emissions and improve travel quality.

The agreement with Alstom reinforces DSB’s position as a European leader in sustainable rail transport.
