Draft CHSRA LA-Anaheim segment environmental impact statement
10.12.2025
The CHSRA LA-Anaheim segment environmental impact statement is now open for public comment.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) is inviting feedback on its draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for a 30-mile high-speed rail segment between Los Angeles and Anaheim, as reported by Progressive Railroading.
Public comment period and DEIS alternatives
The public comment period for this Los Angeles–Anaheim high-speed rail DEIS runs until Feb. 3, 2026. In the draft, CHSRA outlines two build alternatives for the Los Angeles-Anaheim high-speed rail segment, which mainly differ in where a proposed light maintenance facility would be located.

Under the authority’s preferred option, the facility would be built on 26th Street in Vernon, about 5 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. The second alternative instead places the light maintenance facility at 15th Street in Los Angeles and also introduces a potential stop either at the Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs Metrolink station or at the Fullerton Metrolink and Amtrak station, while the DEIS additionally evaluates a no-build alternative alongside these two build scenarios.
Role of the Los Angeles-Anaheim high-speed rail segment
As the southernmost link in the first phase of the state’s future high-speed rail system, the Los Angeles-Anaheim high-speed rail segment would connect Los Angeles Union Station with the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center along an existing rail corridor that already carries both freight and passenger traffic between the two cities, a role within Phase 1 that has also been highlighted by Railway Supply.
All draft environmental documents and supporting studies for this LA-Anaheim high-speed rail environmental review, together with registration for public hearings and instructions on how to submit comments, are available on the CHSRA project section environmental document webpage.
