Recently, DP World announced the acquisition of two new RMG cranes, marking a significant step in the company’s logistics operations development.

These cranes are expected to become operational in mid-August 2024, boosting the rail terminal’s capacity by 75% and facilitating increased freight volumes.

This approach will help reduce local road congestion, lower carbon emissions, and enhance the competitiveness of DP World’s customers.

The new RMG cranes, supplied by Chinese company ZPMC for £12 million, each have a lifting capacity of 41 tons.

They are equipped with advanced control systems and software, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and safety standards at the terminal.

Additionally, DP World anticipates significant achievements with the opening of the new fourth berth at London Gateway, a fully electric facility set to be launched by the end of this year.

This berth will be integrated with the operation of the new RMG cranes, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in port infrastructure.

This strategic development not only improves the terminal’s logistics capabilities but also contributes to the creation of more sustainable and eco-friendly supply chains, aligning with global trends and customer expectations in the field of environmental sustainability and development.
