The Regional Association of Greater Brunswick has entered into an agreement with Alstom for the delivery of five additional electric trains from the Coradia Continental family, along with 20 years of technical maintenance services.

The total contract value exceeds 44 million euros.

This will increase the overall number of Coradia Continental trains operating on the ENNO (Elektro-Netz Niedersachsen-Ost) regional network to 29 units.

This will also enable an increase in the number of double trains on the Wolfsburg – Gifhorn – Hanover and Wolfsburg – Brunswick – Hildesheim routes.

Coradia Continental trains have been in operation in this region since 2014.

With the increase in the number of trains, there are plans to transition to a one-and-a-half-hour schedule on several routes starting in 2029.

Each of the four-car electric trains, designed for speeds up to 160 km/h, has 240 seating places, with an additional 257 passengers able to travel standing.

Furthermore, barrier-free access is provided for passengers with limited physical mobility, and there are multifunctional areas for bicycles, wheelchairs, and strollers.
